    Salome Thomas-El, award-winning teacher and principal, was the keynote speaker for the 2011 Carrie P. Meek Awards.
  • Mr. Dennis W. Bega, Senior Education staff for the U.S. Deptartment of Education, was the special guest speaker for the 2011 Carrie P. Meek Awards.

Established in honor of former Congresswoman Carrie P. Meek’s work as a lifelong educator and public servant, the event draws hundreds of educators, government officials, Carrie P. Meekbusiness, and community leaders from Dade and Broward counties each year.
