This Black Heritage Council award is given annually to recognize elementary, middle, and high school students who have excelled in academics, extracurricular activities, and community/school leadership. |
Qualification Eligibility:
A nomination contest will be held to choose recipients of the award. The contest is open to all students and all nomination letters must be submitted by a teacher or coach no later than Friday, February 5, 2012.
Nominations
Nomination letters must be typed and are due no later than Friday, February 5, 2012. Include student’s name, teacher, and school. Schools submitting more than one nomination letter will be automatically disqualified.
Letter must showcase students who have excelled in academics, extracurricular activities, and community/school leadership.
The Selection Committee
The selection committee is made up of the Black Heritage Council membership. The membership’s profile includes educators who are affiliated with or teach at the college/university level. The committee will review all the eligible applicants prior to the Carrie P. Meek Outstanding Education Leadership Award ceremony in February of the applicable year and make a final decision during a BHC meeting. The BHC will make approve the nominee/recipient of the BHC award.
The Selection Process
The deadline for nominations is January 31, 2012. Schools will be notified of the finalists on Friday, February 11, 2012. Winners will be announced and presented at the annual award ceremony featuring our keynote speaker, which will be held on February 31, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at:
