To prepare special education teachers of the highest quality, the Fischler School of Education and Human Services (FSEHS) offers a master of science in education in cognitive and behavioral disabilities. The program was established to provide current teachers with advanced training in three special education concentration areas: learning disabilities, developmental disabilities and emotional and behavioral disorders. Course content was developed upon a research base that aligns directly with the professional practice standards set forth by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
The M.S. in Education: Cognitive and Behavioral Disabilities specialization is ideal for the following educators:
- Teachers currently teaching out-of-field interested in increasing their knowledge in one or more categorical areas.
- Teachers who wish to earn a master’s degree in special education with a concentration in one or more categorical areas.
- Teachers who desire to become more effective teaching students with disabilities without disrupting their busy lives.
