Dr. Tony Bright is a Program Professor in the Graduate Teacher Education (GTEP) and Child, Youth and Human Studies (CYHS) programs at Fischler School of Education and Human Services (FSEHS). Dr. Bright received his doctorate from Michigan State University and Master's Degree from The University of Alabama, both in special education. Before joining the FSEHS faculty, he taught eight years in Alabama and Michigan public schools systems; four years at Michigan State University; and served as a consultant and trainer for the Michigan Department of Education and the Michigan Association of General Contractors in the areas of career development and transition for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Bright has over 10 years experience as a researcher in the areas of special education, educational technology, and career development.
Dr. Bright is the recipient of numerous awards including: Alabama New Teacher of the Year (nominee), The Houdek Award in Special Education (2 years), and Jacksonville State University’s Outstanding Young Alumnus of the Year. |

Dr. Dana Fredebaugh earned an elementary education degree from Rollins College, a MA in special education from the University of the Virgin Islands, and an MS in early childhood special education and a PhD focusing on early intervention from the University of Miami. She taught second grade and kindergarten before becoming an itinerant early childhood special education teacher (and then one of the program’s administrators) while working for the Department of Education in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Dr. Fredebaugh joined NSU in 1995 as a Program Professor in early childhood and special education and grant writing. She has since added the research and capstone courses to her workload.
Her interest in individuals with disabilities started early, since both her older brother and her youngest brother have disabilities. She has a strong interest in family advocacy and early intervention. |
