Program
The specialization in cognitive and behavioral disabilities offers a unique opportunity for out-of-field teachers to continue working in their current positions while gaining specialized training in one of three special education categorical areas.
Candidates seeking a Master of Science degree are required to complete 36 credit hours including 12 credit hours of core courses, 12 credit hours in a selected concentration area, and 12 credit hours of program electives.
Candidates seeking a concentration area certificate only (i.e., emotional and behavioral disorders , learning disabilities, developmental disabilities) are required to complete 18 credit hours, including 12 hours in the selected area of concentration and 3 credits of core courses, including a non-credit orientation course (EDU 5000), a 3 credit elective course.
It is the responsibility of the student to contact his/her state department of education regarding certification and/or endorsement requirements.
