| Description | Controlled Choice with participation of over 3000 families each year. Includes magnet, charter, and choice programs. Magnet schools include Sail High School, Apalachee Tapestry Magnet School, and Sealy Elementary Math and Science Magnet School. Charter schools include CK Steele-Le Roy Collins Community Middle School and the School for the Arts and Sciences. Magnet Programs include: International Baccalaureate; English as a second language; Quantum Middle School Program; The Middle Years Pre International Baccalaureate Program; Middle School Applied Science and Technology, and Lively Academy of Academics and Technology. Special Programs for Choice: Four by Four block schedule and Eagle Connection; Advanced Placement (AP) Choice Program; Performing and Visual Arts; Jr. ROTC Programs; Pre-Advanced Placement; Technology Studies; Year Round School; and Southside Professional Development Schools Network. Other Choice Options: 1) LCS Employee (parents/guardians who reside in the district and are employed not less than half time by the school board or district faculty may request that their child be allowed to a school of choice if space is available.) 2) Family Convenience - parents/ guardians may request a choice option to any school under 95% capacity for any of the following reasons: a) their child is coming from a school over 95% capacity. b) for child care in the requested school zone , or c) for parent/guardian or student work in the requested school zone. 3) Expanded Grandfathering - to support educational continuity grandfathering will be allowed for students who have entered and attended any school for at least one year by virtue of the attendance zone or initial acceptance into a magnet or choice program or school or continued documented choice option. | Transportation Information | For the 2004-2005 school year, there will be corridor and zone transportation for Charter, Magnet, and Choice schools. ESE and NCLB will continue to be eligible for door-to-door transportation services. |
