Description Controlled/Open Enrollment.
The Choice Program is a specialized educational program that enables students to take advantage of additional sources and innovative teaching techniques that focus on the child's individual talents or interests. The District recognizes that parental involvment is ciritcal to student success. The District is divided into five large geographic Choice Areas each containing multiple elementary, middle, and high schools. There are Parent Information Centers which assist parents and guardians in maximizing the School Choice options. These centers are located in each area office. Forty-one schools in the District have Magnet and Choice Programs ( 16 elementary, 7 middle, and 18 high schools). Twenty-five percent of Palm Beach County School District's, 167,000 students, are enrolled in the Choice Programs. Also, there are Charter Schools, extended year program schools, home education programs, McKay scholarship, opportunity scholarship, and NCLB.
