Controlled Choice- based on capacity. Controlled Choice is a student assignment methodology which allows parents of all public school students the opportunity to express preferences from a range of schools offering educational program options for their children and which promotes stability of assignments for students.
Options include magnet schools, charter, alternative schools, dual enrollment, and traditional attendance zone waivers. Examples of programs include: Basic Plus; Visual and Performing Arts; Second Chance (focus is upon delinquent, dropout, and other at-risk students); International Baccalaureate; Law/Public Service Academy; Health Sciences, construction technology or excellence in math, science, and technology; Talented, Artistic, and Gifted; Environmental Sciences; and Technology.
