Commencement Ceremony Participation
All eligible commencement ceremony participants ( please visit the participation requirements link on this website) will be mailed a first packet of information two months prior to the ceremony date. The packet will include: (1) Invitation to attend memorandum (inclusive of information regarding rings/announcements/frames/deluxe University doctoral regalia); (2) Commencement Participation Form (CPF) to be completed and returned; (3) postage-paid envelope and (4) hotel information.
Commencement Participation Form
The Commencement Participation Form (CPF) is a two-part form available only in the packet of information mailed to eligible students two months (or subsequently depending on the date of degree conferral) prior to the ceremony date. The form must be completed, and both parts of the form must be returned to the Office of the Registrar, along with the appropriate fee for the standard regalia and participation, in the envelope provided. The form serves two purposes: (1) to reserve your place in the ceremony and (2) to order the standard regalia (cap and gown). Faxed forms are not accepted. The cap and gown are yours to keep.
Regalia (cap and gown)
Regalia/Participation fees are as follows:
- Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree: $44.52
- All Bachelor's Degrees: $44.52
- All Master's Degrees: $79.50
- All Educational Specialist Degrees: $79.50
- All Doctoral Degrees: $83.74
Note: Doctoral Graduates have the option of purchasing the Standard Regalia: $83.74 (includes: black gown, mortarboard, hood) or the Deluxe Doctoral Regalia: $942.12 (includes: tam, deluxe grey/blue gown, hood). When ordering the Deluxe Doctoral Regalia, please allow five (5) to seven (7) weeks for shipment of your order. Regardless of the type of regalia ordered, you must still return the Commencement Participation Form (CPF) to reserve your place in the ceremony processional. If you purchased the deluxe regalia, simply check the box on the CPF indicating this purchase.
Only regalia purchased through the NSU Bookstore is permittted to be worn at NSU commencement ceremonies. If you have purchased regalia through another source, please reserve it for your personal use on other occasions.
Correspondence to Confirmed Ceremony Participants
A second (final) packet will be mailed to all students who have returned the CPF indicating their intention to participate in the ceremony. Please allow a minimum of 2 weeks after you return the CPF for the second packet to reach your address. Included in the second packet will be detailed maps and instructions to the graduates regarding the ceremony.
Note: The address used for the two packets described above will be the mailing address (MA) on your NSU student record. Therefore, please make sure that your address is correct on your Webstar account. If it is not, please correct it or fax the correction to the Office of the Registrar at 954-262-3256. When faxing the correction, please reference your NSU ID, and sign the request. It is also helpful to include a daytime phone number in case there are any questions or concerns.
Application for Degree/Diploma Form
The Application for Degree/Diploma should be completed and submitted with the appropriate fee no later than the last term in which your program will be completed. The application can be submitted early and kept on file in order to expedite the process once your program requirements have been met. (PLEASE NOTE: Submitting the Application for Degree/Diploma does not automatically trigger an invitation to the commencement ceremony. The Application for Degree/Diploma and the Commencement Participation Form are two separate forms and processes.)
