About us

Crayons to Computers is a free store for teachers. We are part of Nova Southeastern University, Fischler School of Education and Human Services, located at the North Miami Beach Campus. We service teachers in the metropolitan area of Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. We provide valuable materials and supplies, donated by local businesses and individuals, to educators throughout South Florida and other states via internet orders.

Our goal is to empower children and young adults with the supplies they need to learn, grow and create. To supply teachers with desperately needed materials that are readily available and free of charge. To put an end to unnecessary wastefulness in our community by making it easy for local businesses, industrial concerns and caring individuals to support the dreams of children by donating surplus items.

The Need is Real

• Several communities in South Florida are ranked among the poorest in the nation.
• Many families do not have the financial means to purchase basic school supplies for their kids.
• Some schools have a majority of their students enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program.
• Teachers, who are already underpaid and overstressed, often spend an average of $500 a year of their own money to buy needed classroom supplies.
• Many school budgets are strained to capacity and simply do not have the ability to provide teachers with funds for their students needs.

Crayons to Computers is answering the needs of our community by providing a free store for educators with reclaimed items and with the creative ideas of how to use these materials to enrich the educational lives of children and youth.
