1. What is ECIS?
European Council of International Schools is the oldest and largest institution of international schools in the world. M.S. degree in International Education is designed to reflect and support ECIS schools’ mission and goals
2. Do I have to formally apply to the program?
Yes. All students must submit a graduate admission application, which is accessible at http://www.schoolofed.nova.edu/ecis/.
3. What are the admission requirements?
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited or approved institution
- 2.5 cumulative GPA in undergraduate studies
- Two letters of recommendation from supervisors
4. Do I have to send my transcripts to an approved credentials evaluation company?
No. We review student transcripts to determine the degree equivalency.
5. Is the GRE required?
The GRE is required only for students who do not have a 2.5 GPA in their undergraduate studies.
6. Is the TOEFL required?
No. However proficiency in English language is required in order to succeed in the program and be able to maintain 3.0 GPA at all times.
7. How quickly can I start?
Students are admitted on continuous basis throughout the academic year. The admission process takes approximately 20 days. The program starts six times a year or every eight weeks.
8. Can I apply for scholarships?
Yes. Scholarship information can be obtained from the NSU Office of Financial Aid: http://www.nova.edu/cwis/finaid/scholarships/index.html.
9. How long does it take to complete the program?
The typical course load is 2 courses per 8 week session. At this pace students can finish the program in approximately 1 year. Students may however take courses at their own pace. The deadline for completion is 5 years.
10. How many credits are required to complete the degree?
The M.S. degree program in International Education requires a minimum of 36 semester hours.
11. How many credits can be transferred into the program?
Six semester hours of graduate credits from a regionally accredited college or university may be transferred. The credits must be less than 5 years old with a grade of B or better.
12. When and where do classes meet?
The M.S. degree program in International Education is an online program. Students begin online course work on the start date of the term, logging on to the course management system and entering their course area to access lectures, information, assignments, and activities posted by their professor.
13 . What computer skills are required?
Participation in the program requires basic computer skills that include: ability to send and receive emails, establish an Internet connection using a browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape), upload/download and attach files.
14. When is the last day to drop/add courses?
You may drop/add a course before the start date of the term/session to receive 100% refund. Please see Important Dates for more information.
15. How do I pay for the courses?
Students pay per the amount of credit hours they register for. $50 late fee will be charged to the student account after 30 days. For more information pleas evisit Office of the University Bursar.
16. Can I receive a tuition discount?
Yes. 20% tuition discount is being applied to the regular GTEP tuition for all students who are accepted to the M.S. degree program in International Education.
17. What is the total cost of the program?
For the 2008-09 academic years, the total cost of the program is approximately $ 16, 500.
18. How long has the program been in effect?
6 years.
19. Can payments for each course be made by a credit card from any country?
Yes.
20. How do I decide which course to register for?
Program of Study serves as a recommended order in which courses should be taken.
21. Where should I send my transcripts and letters of recommendation?
Students’ documents must be sent to the Enrollment Processing Services, Fischler Graduate School of Education and Human Services, 3301 College Ave, PO Box 299000, Ft. Lauderdale FL 33329-9905 USA. Please note that your official transcripts and letters must not be opened, must have an official stamp or seal, and should be in English language.
22. Are the NSU’s tuition and fees guaranteed to stay the same?
We cannot guarantee that the cost at time of enrollment will be in effect for the duration of the program. Students have up to 6 years to complete the program. We cannot project costs in advance. We are very aware of keeping costs down for our international students and continue to have the students’ interests at heart.
23. What are the advantages of pursuing the M.S. degree program with ECIS/NSU?
No textbooks. 20% discount on tuition rate. Online education.
24. Will I be able to find a job immediately after graduation?
NSU doesn’t guarantee a job placement. However, we have seen continuous student success upon completion of the program.
25. What degree will I receive? Is it internationally recognized?
Students will be awarded Master of Science degree. NSU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Bachelor’s, Master’s, Educational Specialist’s and Doctoral degrees and is internationally recognized.
