M.S. in Education with Specialization In
Secondary Social Studies (SST)

Master of Science in Education with specialization in Secondary Social Studies degree candidates complete this specialization using the Program of Study posted below. Secondary Social Studies is offered through the National Graduate Teacher Education Online Program (NGTE).  Students entering this specialization are assigned to a cluster/cohort group and take two courses per term.

Master of Science Degree in Secondary Social Studies (SST)
The M.S. in Education with specialization in Secondary Social Studies is designed for educational professionals who seek additional information and educational experiences in the field of secondary social studies. Upon completion of the program, students should have gained increased knowledge in the academic areas that constitute the social sciences and gained experience with areas essential to advanced curricular and instructional practices including learning theories, educational research, and utilization of new technologies and adapting instruction for students with diverse needs.

Nova Southeastern University is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). NGTE programs are aligned with appropriate national and professional standards. Because our students come from many states as well as areas outside the United States, these programs are not developed in accordance with any particular state certification requirements.

NGTE students should contact their state department of education for guidance in obtaining certification or licensure, or contact their local school district for approval in fulfilling district-level incentive programs. Certification requirements vary by state and district. Completion of an NGTE program of study does not guarantee certification.
