Student Online Support

Cluster Organization
National Graduate Teacher Education Online Programs (NGTE)

Students entering NGTE Online Degree Specializations or Certificate Programs will be assigned to a cluster/cohort group of others seeking a degree in their specific study area.  Clusters begin Fall 1, Winter 1, Summer 1 as enrollment demands.  Clusters will follow the program of study and complete the program on the scheduled completion date.
Example:  Registrants of clusters beginning Winter 1 will complete 2 courses per term session (12 credits per term) and finish their program of study prior to start of Winter 1 term of the following year.  6 credits x 6 term sessions = 36 credits.

Participants should contact their state department of education for guidance in obtaining certification or licensure or local school district for approval in fulfilling district level incentive programs. Certification requirements vary by state and district.  Completion of NGTE programs of study does not guarantee certification or licensure.

How the cluster system works:
To assure students that enrollment will be adequate for courses to be offered, students will be assigned to cluster groups who will be following an established program of study for their specialization (major).  Cohorts in cluster groups are expected to take two courses per term session and in doing so, should complete the degree program in six online terms (one year).
For assignment to a cluster, online degree seeking students must:

Upon notification of acceptance, students will be sent a program of study, cluster assignment and start up information via email by the cluster coordinator.
Students may register up to one term in advance and must comply with program requirements when registering for courses (obtain a PIN, complete electronic registration, register at least two weeks prior to term session start date).

Students who do not continue with their cluster through the completion of their degree program of study must wait until a new cluster forms to complete their program of study and are not guaranteed that courses will be delivered each scheduled term.  Clusters are formed with 15-25 students.

Please retain all information sent by the Program office (electronic and hard copy) for future reference.
