Beginning Fall 1 2001
the Graduate Teacher Education Program Online will reorganize
into two separate programs: NGE - The National Graduate Teacher
Education Program Online and GTEP Online
NGE The National Graduate
Teacher Education Program Online offers opportunities for students
regardless of location to complete specified degree programs,
courses and certificate programs totally through online delivery.
Courses will be offered in six week term sessions.
Degree candidates will begin and complete their online specialization
through the National/International Online Cluster Program of the
Graduate Teacher Education Program (GTEP). Students seeking a
degree through the GTEP NGE Online Program will be assigned a
cluster or cohort group. Cluster participants will follow program
outlines listed and must comply with program requirements for
degree
candidacy and completion. Limited individual courses and certificate
courses will also be available through the national program.
Participants should
contact their state department of education for guidance in obtaining
certification or licensure or local school district for approval
in fulfilling district level incentive programs. Certification
requirements vary by state and district. Participants entering
degree programs will follow program outlines listed for that degree
and must comply with program requirements for degree candidacy
and completion.
GTEP Online will provide
limited online course offerings supplemental to Graduate Teacher
Education site-based programs specific to Florida and Nevada teacher
certification. Students must fulfill all requirements set by GTEP
to achieve degree candidacy including those that require attendance
at GTEP sites.
Beginning with the Fall 2 2001 term, courses will be offered in
eight week term sessions and follow the GTEP site-based schedule.
GTEP courses for online
delivery have been selected by Program Professors for each degree
specialization. Questions concerning GTEP Online course offerings
should be directed to Program
Professors for the specific specialization area.
Students who began
their online programs of study in CIT, ETEC or ETL prior to Winter
1 2001 and are not in a cluster group may arrange to complete
their degree through the cluster program. Students must contact
an advisor and the cluster coordinator of their program specialization
to arrange for a modified program schedule in order to complete
their degree. Deadline for completion is prior to Summer 1 2002.
