The TESOL endorsement is designed to provide students with the necessaryknowledge and skills to successfully meet the challenges in today’s multilingual classroom and comply with state regulations to obtain an endorsement or certification in the area of ESOL. Students complete Florida state endorsement requirements in the necessary areas of curriculum development, teaching methods and strategies, applied linguistics, cross-cultural studies and TESOL testing and assessment to effectively meet the educational needs of their English second language learners. Typically this is achieved through a five course sequence. To date the endorsement is approved in the states of Florida and Nevada. Students seeking an ESOL endorsement or certification in other states will need to determine that state’s requirements.
