Concentration Descriptions

Educational Leadership

The doctor of education with a concentration in educational leadership is designed specifically for practicing administrators, education leaders, and teachers on an administrative track in prekindergarten through 12th grade public and nonpublic schools and school systems. This program will help practitioners develop leadership skills through self-reflection and analysis, and best practices through practical application. Those skills and practices can then be used to solve real problems in the workplace. The planning and implementation of projects based on these problems are the cornerstones of the program. The doctoral program in educational leadership focuses on providing broad knowledge of social, political, and economic forces at work in society, as well as a narrow concentration on mechanical or logistical issues that tend to perpetuate parochialism and traditionalism.

Health Care Education

The doctor of education with a concentration in health care education is designed specifically for practicing educators and trainers of care providers. This program will help practitioners develop leadership skills used to face current and future issues of social justice, managed care, professionalism, technology, disease prevention, and legal perspectives through self-reflection and analysis, and best practices through practical application. Those skills and practices can then be used to solve real problems in the workplace. The doctoral program in health care education focuses on developing health care educators as facilitators, innovators, leaders, consultants, and instructional designers by providing the knowledge and skills needed for the effective delivery of health information and care.

Higher Education Leadership

The doctor of education with a concentration in higher education is designed specifically for practicing educators, trainers, and staff developers working with adult learners. This program will help practitioners develop leadership skills to administer higher education programs and institutions through self-reflection and analysis, and best practices through practical application. Those skills and practices can then be used to solve real problems in the workplace. The doctoral program in higher education focuses on providing broad knowledge of social, political, and economic forces at work in society, as well as developing leaders that can meet both current and future leadership challenges in higher education

Human Services Administration

The doctor of education with a concentration in human services administration is designed specifically for practicing human services professionals working with individuals across the life span, families, communities, and/or organizations. This program will help practitioners develop leadership skills in order to be proactive, ethical agents of change in systems and organizations that affect quality of life through self-reflection and analysis, and best practices through practical application. The doctoral program in human services administration focuses on developing practitioners that can respond to current issues and trends in human service settings, as well as, predict, prepare for, advocate for, and shape the future of services for the benefit of diverse population of stakeholders

Instructional Leadership

The doctor of education with a concentration in instructional leadership is designed specifically for practicing teachers, educational leaders, and administrators in prekindergarten through 12 th grade public and nonpublic schools and school systems. This program will help practitioners develop leadership skills associated with traditional instructional tasks such as setting clear goals, allocating resources to instruction, managing curriculum, monitoring lesson plans through self-reflection and analysis, and best practices through practical application. Those skills and practices can then be used to solve real problems in the workplace. Instructional Technology and Distance Education

The doctor of education with a concentration in instructional technology and distance education is designed specifically for individuals who want to lead the way in improving teaching and learning through the application of instructional theories and practices. This program will help practitioners develop leadership skills to manage solutions to problems involved in all aspects of human learning through self-reflection and analysis, and best practices through practical application.
