Invitational Summer Institute
The Invitational Summer Institute is the heart of the National Writing Project. At each of the 165+ NWP sites nationwide, exemplary teachers of writing, from kindergarten through the university level, come together for an intensive 20-day summer institute where they research the latest theories and strategies in writing instruction, demonstrate and examine their own classroom practices, and develop their own personal writing skills.
As a result of the summer institute, a corps of teachers is identified and trained to be National Writing Project Teacher Consultants who provide professional development to other teachers. Those interested in applying for this summer's invitational summer institute,
