Summer Youth Writing Camps

Program Description

The Summer Youth Writing Camps provide the opportunity for students entering fifth through eighth grades to develop and reinforce their creative writing skills.  During this three-week camp held at various locations, participants will work in groups of 15 to 18.  Students will explore genres such as poetry, short stories, plays, advertisements, and others.  The camps' culminating activity is the writing and production of a play presented on the last day, an event families are invited to attend.

Eligibility Requirements

·        Overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or equivalent as indicated on most recent
        report card

·        Teacher recommendation to verify writing ability and interest

·        One-page double-spaced essay describing why student wants to participate in
        writing camp

·        The fee includes all materials and supplies.  Students bring their lunch each day.          Scholarships are available on an as-needed basis.
