Description:
Introduction to Instructional Design is the first of two related courses that will introduce the fundamental concepts and requisite skills to use a systematic approach to creating instruction. In the first half of the term, you will determine what should be included in the instruction and how it should be organized and presented. During the second half of the term, in Instructional Development and Delivery, you will actually create the instruction and evaluate it.

  • Instructional Strategies
  • Media Selection

Objectives:

Upon completion of Instructional Development and Delivery students will be able to:

  • Describe processes for conducting a needs assessment and identifying an instructional goal.
    • Explain the value of conducting a needs assessment
    • Identify primary steps in conducting a needs assessment
    • Determine a goal statement
  • Conduct required analyses for instructional design and development.
    • Derive a goal statement
    • Conduct a goal analysis
    • Conduct an instructional analysis
    • Conduct a learner analysis
    • Conduct a context analysis
  • Create an instructional treatment plan
    • Determine appropriate instructional objectives
    • Determine instructional assessments
    • Select an appropriate instructional strategy
    • Identify appropriate media for instruction
