Child and Youth Care Administrators
The specialization for child and youth care administrators
programs are designed specifically for managers, administrators, and directors
of programs for children and youth with experience as a youth or child
care worker or administrator or supervisor in a residential, group care,
or community-based setting administrative or supervisory responsibility
in a youth or child care setting.
The Program offers four main skill areas in eleven courses:
- Foundations for Therapeutic Programs for Children
and Youth provides an overview of theory, approaches, and
practice in the design and delivery of supportive and therapeutic programs
for children and youth. The focus is on the design and delivery of a
total, integrated program.
- The Courses include:
- Developmental Foundations
for Child and Youth Care Practice
- Theories and Strategies for
Behavior Change in Programs for Children and Youth
- The Design and Management
of Therapeutic Environments for Children and Youth
- Child and Youth Care Management: Legal and
Financial Aspects and Program Evaluation provides basic background
in financial aspects, program evaluation, and legal issues related to
the management of programs for children and youth.
- The Courses include:
- Program Evaluetion for Child
and Youth Care Administrators
- Legal Aspects of the Management
of Programs for Children and Youth
- Financial Aspects of the Management
of Programs for Children and Youth
- The Administration of Programs for
Children and Youth covers how to manage a variety of programs
and agencies. There is an emphasis on program planning, grantsmanship,
and program development in addition to leadership and supervisory skills.
- The Courses include:
- The Development and Acquisition
of Resources for Child and Youth Care Programs
- The Elements and Styles of
Leadership for Child and Youth Care Administrators
- Supervision Methods and Approaches
for Child and Youth Care Administrators
- The Profession and Public Policy
in Child and Youth Care covers an introduction
to child and youth care policy and child advocacy. An overview of the
history of child and youth care is provided. Specific skills and techniques
in child advocacy are presented.
- The Courses include:

and Youth Care Field for Program Administrators
