Steps for Obtaining Field Experience
Broward County
Pre-service educators seeking placement in Broward County must complete a Broward
County Request for Placement form online as soon as they register for classes.
For placement availability purposes you MUST request your placement for the entire semester not just the first eight weeks or the second eight weeks. Pre-service educators must log on to the School District of Broward County Web site to access the Request for Placement form. First-time applicants must click on the "registration/ register now" link to complete and submit the form.
Once the pre-service educator has submitted the Request for Placement form, they will receive a user name and password.
Pre-service educators may check the status of their application by logging on to the School District of Broward County website using the assigned username and password. Placement information will be displayed on this page once Broward County and the assigned cooperating teacher at the school have approved the placement. Pre-service educators should check-in regularly. An automated email will be sent to your NSU email account once a placement has been assigned but, students are always welcome to check the district’s website often for more information.
Pre-service educators are required to use their NSU e-mail address when completing the online application. This will be the primary channel of communication between the pre-service educator and the Office of Placement Services. Pre-service educators may obtain an NSU e-mail
account online.
Pre-service educators should contact the assigned school/cooperating teacher within one week of obtaining placement.
The only way to ensure timely placement is to complete and submit the Request for Placement form at least one month before the start of class.
NOTE: Pre-service educators are required to complete a new Request for Placement form each semester.
Security Clearance Requirement: Pre-service educators seeking placement in Broward County must provide proof of Broward County security clearance to the Office of Placement Services at the time of application. A copy of security clearance card should be faxed to the Office of Placement Services at (954)262-3925.
The placement process is handled by university and county officials only. Intervention by pre-service educators violates the agreement between Nova Southeastern University and the public school system. Pre-service educators are not permitted to contact the School Board of Broward County regarding placements.
