Field Experience

Steps for Obtaining Field Experience

Las Vegas

Pre-service educators seeking Field placement should complete the Field Experiences Zip Code Preference Form provided by the Academic Program Manager three (3) weeks before the start of each 16-week semester. Pre-service educators should indicate their preferred grade level (primary or intermediate). The grade requested must be the opposite of the previous placement. Pre-service educators may request a specific schooland must submit the request to the Enrollment Services Representative at the Las Vegas Education Center.  The ESR will submit the request to CCSD Teacher Induction and Mentoring Department and ESR will notify the pre-service educator of the final placement.  All questions and concerns should be directed to the local ESR.

The pre-service educator should contact the office manager or cooperating teacher within one week of obtaining placement.

On the first visit to the assigned school, pre-service educators should complete the Las Vegas Request for Placement Form and have the cooperating teacher and school principal complete the "placement information" section of the form. Pre-service Educators should submit the completed Request for Placement Form to the Academic Program Manager.

Pre-service educators are required to log all time spent in the classroom after each visit using the Field Experiences Checklist.

Pre-service educators should ask their cooperating teacher to sign the checklist and complete the Field Experiences Evaluation Form that corresponds to their block of courses, at the end of each 16-week semester.

Pre-service educators are required to turn in the completed Field Experiences Placement Reporting Form (link provided above), Field Experiences Checklist and Field Experiences Evaluation Form to the Academic Program Manager at the end of the 16-week semester. The academic program manager will forward all forms to the Field placement office. Once the Field placement office verifies the information submitted, the coordinator of field experiences will assign a grade for the benchmark and field experiences for which the pre-service educator is registered.
